Nemesis stepped over the border and into the land. Judging by the cleanness of the air, there was no-one living here, and no-one ever had. Hiding a small smile from his friend, Peter Pan, who travelled with him, he walked further into the terra. There seemed to be everything a herd would need; Water, good grass, and rain. So why hadn't anyone taken the land? That was anyone's guess.
The further the chestnut went into the terra, the better it seemed to get. There were numerous pools of water, and the grass was green and healthy. Nemesis could only hope there wasn't some kind of horrible trap waiting further in, so, intent on exploring the land completely before daring to call it his own, he began trotting slowly, cautiously onward.
Upon finding nothing dangerous, he was puzzled. Why was there no-one living here? It was all a herd leader could want for his harem, but, instead of pondering, Nemesis realised he could live her instead of roaming. Grinning, he turned to Peter Pan.
"How would you feel about living here, my friend?"
Immediately, Peter Pan's head shot up and he looked bewildered.
"L-l-live here?" He stammered, "that would be great!"
Nemesis gave a contented nod at his answer, and then called out in a loud, commanding voice.
"I, Nemesis, hereby announce that the lands of Raiden will, from this moment on, belong to me and my herd mates. Peter Pan, my best friend, fellow traveller, and faithful companion, will become my beta and rule when I fail to return and when I am away."
Peter Pan was pleased with this. Although he had always wanted to be a herd leader, loyalty to his friend came first, and when Nemesis was gone, the land would be his anyway. For now though, beta was good enough.
